The issuer of investments in NAB Principal Series - ASX 200 Focus (ASX 200 Focus) is National Australia Bank Limited (NAB).

Terms defined in the combined Product Disclosure Statement and Financial Services Guide (PDS) dated 16 April 2010 issued by NAB for ASX 200 Focus have the same meanings on this site.

At maturity, each strategy will deliver selected shares or units with a value approximately equal to the value of your investment at its maturity.  Alternatively you may elect to receive cash proceeds of the sale of those shares or units. 

Issue Price

$1.00 for each investment in either strategy.

Minimum Investment

The application amount is $10,000 for each strategy (with minimum additional application amounts of $1,000 per strategy).

Early Withdrawal

Solely at NAB’s discretion. An early withdrawal fee will apply in the first two years. The NAB guarantee amount does not apply prior to the maturity date.

Pricing

Performance updates will be provided every month, setting out our calculation of the fair economic value of each strategy at the relevant time.

Distributions

Strategy A may pay up to two annual conditional coupons of 3% of the issue price.  If the level of the index on an anniversary of the issue date for the first two years is more than the level of the index on the issue date, then a conditional coupon will be paid.

Strategy B may pay up to three annual conditional coupons of 4% of the issue price.  If the level of the index on an anniversary of the issue date for the first three years is more than the level of the index on the issue date, then a conditional coupon will be paid.

Growth Cap

The maximum capital return on strategy A at its maturity is calculated by reference to the index cap.  The index cap will be no less than 40%. 

The maximum capital return on strategy B at its maturity is calculated by reference to the index cap.  The index cap will be no less than 90%.

NAB Guarantee Amount

The maturity amount of each investment in either strategy will be at least $1.00.  In other words, the NAB guarantee amount is $1.00, for each investment in either strategy.

Performance Hurdle

The capital return on strategy A at its maturity will be subject to a performance hurdle of 6%.  This means that the index must increase by more than 6% over the term of your investment in strategy A for your return at maturity to be greater than $1.00 per investment.

The capital return on strategy B at its maturity will be subject to a performance hurdle of 12%.  This means that the index must increase by more than 12% over the term of your investment in strategy B for your return at maturity to be greater than $1.00 per investment.

Maximum Capital Return

The maximum capital return for strategy A will equal the index cap minus the hurdle rate.  The maximum capital return for strategy A will be no less than 34%. 

The maximum capital return for strategy B will equal the index cap minus the hurdle rate.  The maximum capital return for strategy B will be no less than 78%. 

Starting Index Levels

The starting index level for strategy A is the level of the index on its issue date.

The starting index level for strategy B is the level of the index on its issue date.

Ending index levels

The ending index level for strategy A is the level of the index on its maturity date.

The ending index level for strategy B is the level of the index on its maturity date.

You might consider an investment in ASX 200 Focus if:

  • you are comfortable with a performance hurdle and a maximum capital return limiting your potential capital return at maturity;
  • you are attracted by the “Significant benefits of ASX 200 Focus”, as applicable to the relevant strategy, described above;
  • you believe that now is a good time to make an investment with a return linked to the index and which provides the additional protection of the NAB guarantee amount at maturity;
  • you understand and are comfortable with the risks associated with ASX 200 Focus described in section 8 of the PDS, headed “What are the risks?”;
  • you want the capital protection at maturity to be 100% of the issue price of each investment; and
  • you want a possibility of conditional coupons during the term.

How many investments will I receive?

The number of investments you will receive for a strategy will be determined by NAB on the issue date as follows:

  • your application amount minus the adviser deduction (if any) that is included in your application form;
  • divided by
  • the issue price ($1.00).

Only a whole number of investments will be issued.

The NAB guarantee amount applies to your application amount, and number of investments, after any applicable adviser deduction has been deducted in accordance with your application form.

What are the terms of my investments?

NAB issues the investments in ASX 200 Focus on the terms set out in the investment conditions in section 12 titled “Investment Conditions” of the PDS. You should ensure that you read and understand the investment conditions.  Signing and lodging an application form will bind you to the investment conditions if we accept your application.
