David is a Director and Senior Economist with the Research group. He has been with National Australia Bank for the past four years. He speaks with clients on the outlook for the economy and markets as well as writing on the economy and markets for the widely distributed suite of economics research publications. As part of his role, he speaks regularly with the financial print and electronic media on economic and markets issues. Speaking with clients, he is also able to tap into business conditions "at the coal face" to tally with accumulated data and evidence.

David has 20 years of experience in the private banking and financial sector; he also worked in Canberra for over 10 years with the Federal Treasury and as a senior economic advisor in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet under Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
